The vast majority of Guild Wars 2 players have a large amount of spiritual shards but little gold to rent them. That's why there's something we call "Spiritual Shard Sales" that usually happens with T5 to T6 conversions.
This is not mandatory to do for other players, in fact, it's more beneficial to do it for yourself. But of course, it also carries its risks. So here I'm going to explain how to do "T6 Conversions" and how to sell shards to those who want conversions.
How to make a conversion?
A conversion basically means upgrading tier 5 materials to their higher tier.
For this we will use the Mystic Forge and follow the following recipe:
Here we can change the type of tier 5 and tier 6 for other conversions but making sure they always match in type. Dust cannot be upgraded.
Every time we make a conversion we will get between 5 and 12 Tier 6 back. On average we will gain 6.05 Tier 6 per roll, that is, 242 T6 for every 2,000 T5. Why did I mention that exact figure? Well, now we'll see.
How to buy T6 conversions?
When buying, it's usually done in batches of 140 spiritual shards, that is, 280 transformations. It's necessary to do this type of trades in a guild bank because otherwise, we'll spend 1 hour passing materials through mail.
When we have a common bank for both buyer and seller, as buyers we will put in a bank slot:
- 8 stacks of each of the 7 tier 5 materials:
- Sangre T5
- Hueso T5
- Garra T5
- Colmillo T5
- Escama T5
- Tótem T5
- Veneno T5
- 1,400 Piles of Crystalline Dust
46 gold payment when receiving tier 6 materials
Once this is done, we just have to wait for the materials to be returned to us. Normally there should be 242 on average of each. That is, if we add up the Tier 6 of each type that they send back to us and divide by 7 it should be close to 242.
Sometimes probability makes it quite a bit less and other times quite a bit more, but take a look just in case.
How to sell T6 conversions?
When we are the sellers we have to go to the bank and collect the materials mentioned in the seller part. For better optimization of our time when using the Mystic Forge, we will set up the inventory like this: 2 free slots, 200 T6 dust, 2,000 Tier 5.
In those 2 slots we could put 1 Tier 6, our own that we could collect again when finished if we wanted, and 200 philosopher's stones. These stones we will buy from Miyani at the Mystic Forge for 1 spiritual shard in exchange for 10 philosopher's stones.
Now we will put the recipe explained at the beginning into the Mystic Forge and send all the Tier 6 materials to the buyer. They will send us the payment, 46 gold, for the 140 spiritual shards.
